About Unison Industries
Unison Industries, LLC is a designer, manufacturer, and integrator of electrical and mechanical systems and components for aircraft engines and airframes. The company was founded by Frederick Sontag in 1980. The company saw initial success, but in the mid 1980s, a downturn in the small airplane network forced the company to lay off nearly 200 employees. At this time, Sontag dedicated more resources to research and development to help diversify the product line. Soon after, in 1988, Unison invented the first solid-state ignition system for turbine-powered aircraft, causing the commercial aviation market to take notice of the company.
In 1989, Unison purchased the aircraft ignition division of Bendix, increasing the company’s sales by 500%. The Bendix plant was in Jacksonville, Florida, where Unison relocated. In 1997 Unison acquired the engine electrical systems division of BFGoodrich Aerospace, adding satellite wiring harnesses and space ignition systems to Unison’s growing product line. In april 2002, Unison became a wholly-owned subsidiary of GE Engine Services, Inc., a branch of General Electric.
Today, the company continues to serve both OEM and aftermarket customers in the general, commercial, and military aviation markets. The company manufactures turbine and piston engine ignition systems, electric power generation and control systems, electrical wiring harnesses and panel assemblies, sensors, switches, and bellows assemblies, tubing, ducting, brackets, flex joints, and air valves.

- Engine Conveyance Systems: Unison manufactures tubes, ducts, and flexible joints, as well as integration solutions for fluid conveyance needs in aircraft.
- Thermal Management: Unison offers heat management solutions with unique surface heat exchangers that include integrated fins rather than the typical brazed design, making it lighter in weight, and less constrictive of airflow compared to traditional radiator-type coolers.
