About United Technologies Corporation

United Technologies Corporation (UTC) was an American based conglomerate that researched, developed, and manufactured aircraft engine parts, aerospace systems, HVAC components, building automation products, and much more. While UTC has since merged with Raytheon Company as of 2020, they continue to utilize their manufacturing capabilities to benefit their newly merged entity, Raytheon Technologies.

UTC comes from a long history stemming from the United Aircraft Corporation and the break-up of United Aircraft and Transport Corporation in 1934. Officially becoming United Technologies in 1975, the company began to diversify their operations to extend beyond aerospace applications. As such, they set their focus on a line of acquisitions and mergers, taking over companies such as Otis Elevator, Carrier Refrigeration, and Mostek.

In the early 2000s, UTC continued to acquire diverse businesses to reach into new markets and industries, and they ensured proper expansion to accommodate their growth. In 2019, however, UTC formally announced their intention to merge with Raytheon, allowing for the newly formed company to rival Boeing as the second largest aerospace-and-defense company. Currently, Raytheon Technologies Corporation continues to operate with a focus on aerospace, intelligence services, and defense manufacturing.
