FSG 66 Instruments and Laboratory Equipment

NSNs are unique 13-digit serials assigned to all standardized items by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The 13-digit serials can be broken down into two parts, the first 4 digits being the Federal Supply Groups Code (FSGC), and the last 9 digits being the National Item Identification Number (NIIN). The FSGC can also be broken down into two parts, the first 2 digits being the Federal Supply Group (FSG), and the second 2 digits being the Federal Supply Code (FSC).

Federal Supply Group 66, Instruments and Laboratory Equipment, encompasses all instruments and equipment, including specifically designed infrared assemblies, computers, and computer assemblies, meant for use in a laboratory. Note that while FSG 66 includes many different measuring instruments and equipment such as barometers, it does not include craftsmen’s measuring tools; clinical or dental use equipment; or general-purpose prefabricated chambers.
